John Rubio Superintendent

Dr. John Rubio Superintendent has almost 30 years experience in California K-12 public schools. John Rubio has worked with districts in wealthy areas such as the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District where he started his administrative career in 1997. Dr. Rubio has also worked tirelessly for less fortunate families and students, and knows how to work with and respond effectively to parents and students from all economic backgrounds.

As the first Superintendent in over 20 years to receive a contract extension in Emeryville, as an elementary or middle school principal, or as the person in charge of Educational Technology for all of San Francisco Unified, Dr. John Rubio has experience that is comprehensive.

Dr. John Rubio Superintendent was the primary author of two very large grants for SFUSD in 2011, one for $1,000,000 to integrate technology and another for $750,000 for rising 8th grade students to prepare for college. In the above video, though dated in terms of the technology available in 2011, the transformation of classrooms and increase of writing and technology integration skills that Dr. Rubio created for teachers and students in 2011.
